The Sea Cadet Corp is a nationwide voluntary youth organisation for young adults aged 12 - 18. We also recruit Junior Cadets aged 10 - 12.
There are roughly 400 units in the UK with more than 15,000 cadets. Cadets will learn valuable skills and have the opportunity to gain qualifications that future employers view in high regard, such as first aid, DofE and BTEC.
Training is based around a nautical theme, with cadets experiencing both indoor and outdoor lessons, in a variety of subjects.
During the summer, cadets get the chance to go boating, whereas in the winter, cadets tend to work more towards their chosen specialisations and proficiencies, such as cook steward, seamanship and shooting.
Westerham Unit is one of newest units in the Sea Cadet Corps.
We officially became a unit in October 2005, and since then we have been concentrating on getting all of our cadets basic qualifications, self discipline and confidence.
